Used to determine the resistance to shearing of all types of soil specimens both consolidated and drained, undisturbed or remoulded samples. The machine can accommodate specimens dia. 60, 100 mm, and square 60x60, 100x100 mm. The apparatus is equipped with a control closed loop motor with epicycloid reducers. At the beginning of each test, the machine performs an automatic and complete internal check, a position reset with the elimination of all possible positioning errors and all pauses. The input of all the test patterns is achieved by the interaction of the keyboard and the alphanumeric display with self-memory, thus granting infinitesimal resolutions in short times. All data are input and stored when the machine is in stand-by, without affecting the specimen under test with quick machine setting. Possibility to fix maximum excursion of the shear box, so as to interrupt automatically the test. It is possible to input a different return speed (residual shear) in relation to the one used for the shear test, thus allowing a quick playback to select the residual shear test, saving a lot of time. The Direct Shear test apparatus consist of a square or circular box divided into two halves. The specimen, contained in the box, is subjected to a constant normal load while an increasing horizontal force is applied to one of the sections of the shear box. This force causes a shear failure along the juncture between the box sections of this. The shear force and the normal load are measured directly. The rate of strain is adjusted by the speed of the horizontal force applied. The loading unit has V-strips on which the shear box housing rests. The load yoke in these direct shear test apparatus helps counter balance the loading system. The lead screw connected to the shear box housing helps application of shear stress.

The settlement of foundations and changes in earth pressure due to movement of retaining walls or other earth supports, the yield of soil caused by application of load, are affected by the stress-strain relationship of soils. The experimental investigation for determining the stress-strain relation is usually carried out with Triaxial Compression Test. During the test, the soil samples gradually stressed up to failure. Generally speaking, Triaxial Tests are performed to stimulate different types of stress and drainage conditions that can occur in the sub-soil for simulating the effect of building construction, excavation, tunneling etc. Three different Triaxial Tests are usually performed for total and effective stress measurement. The 50 kN capacity machine, designed primarily for triaxial testing of soil specimens upto 100mm diameter x 200 mm long, comprises a rigid twin column construction with an integral fully variable. Models Available Digital Triaxial SYSTEM Microprocessor controlled drive unit and LCD display with a touch sensitive keyboard. The machine is normally bench mounted for ease of installation and operation. The digital indication of the load, pressure and the strain are displayed on the front panel of the load frame. Selector switch has been provided to shift the digital indicator from load to pressure or to strain.
